The Webster Technique in St. Petersburg, FL

The Webster Technique is a gentle, pregnancy-specific chiropractic approach that balances the pelvis and eases tension in the muscles and ligaments supporting your growing belly. At Blossom Family Chiropractic in downtown St. Pete, every one of our doctors is Webster certified, so you get the same specialized prenatal care no matter who you see.

What is the Webster Technique?

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment for pregnancy that focuses on balancing the sacrum and pelvis and releasing tension in the surrounding muscles and ligaments. It was developed by Dr. Larry Webster and is taught and certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

Your pelvis is your baby’s home for nine months and the passageway for birth. When the sacrum, pelvic joints or supporting ligaments are out of balance, it can cause discomfort for you and may limit how much room your baby has to move.

The goal of Webster isn’t to “turn” a baby. It’s to restore balance and reduce tension in the pelvis, so your body has the best possible environment for comfort, baby’s positioning and birth.

What does a Webster adjustment include?

A Webster visit at Blossom is gentle and done with you comfortably supported on pregnancy pillows. Depending on what we find, it may include:

  • Sacrum adjustment: gently restoring motion and balance to the base of the spine
  • Pubic bone adjustment: easing strain at the front of the pelvis
  • Round ligament release: relaxing the ligaments that support the uterus
  • Psoas release: easing a deep hip flexor that often tightens in pregnancy
  • Piriformis release: relaxing a deep glute muscle linked to hip and sciatic pain
  • Sacrotuberous ligament release: easing tension in a ligament that connects the sacrum and pelvis

What are the benefits of the Webster Technique?

Mamas choose Webster care for:

  • A more comfortable pregnancy with less back, hip and pelvic pain
  • Better pelvic balance as ligaments loosen and your belly grows
  • More room for baby to move into a good position for birth
  • Birth preparation and peace of mind as your due date approaches
  • A calmer nervous system during a season of big change

Webster care is especially helpful for pelvic pain and SPD, sciatica, round ligament pain and mamas whose baby is breech or posterior.

What happens at my first Webster visit?

We start with your health history, pregnancy details and birth goals. Then we do a gentle exam, INSiGHT CLA scans (no X-rays during pregnancy), and walk you through what we found. Your first adjustment is gentle, and we explain every step.

We’re located at 360 Central Ave, Suite 1200 in downtown St. Petersburg, and we see mamas from across Pinellas County and Tampa Bay.

Why do St. Pete mamas choose Blossom for Webster care?

Our entire team of doctors (Dr. Savy Ford and Dr. Peyton Gallentine) is Webster certified. We can help support you through every step of your pregnancy and beyond.
