ADHD & Chiropractic for Kids in St. Petersburg, FL

Your child is bright, creative and trying so hard, but their body just won't slow down. Homework takes hours, bedtime is a battle and the teacher emails keep coming. At Blossom Family Chiropractic in St. Pete, we gently support the nervous system behind focus and regulation, so your child can feel more in control of their own body.

What is ADHD?

ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulse control and activity level. It’s one of the most common childhood diagnoses and often continues into adulthood.

We like to explain it this way: many kids with ADHD seem stuck with their foot on the gas pedal. Their nervous system spends too much time in the “go” (sympathetic) state and has a hard time finding the brakes. That makes it harder to sit still, filter out distractions, fall asleep and handle frustration.

ADHD brains also bring real strengths: creativity, energy, curiosity and big hearts. Our goal isn’t to change who your child is. It’s to help their nervous system shift gears more easily.

What are common signs of ADHD in children?

  • Trouble focusing, finishing tasks or following multi-step directions
  • Constant fidgeting, climbing or difficulty staying seated
  • Blurting out answers or interrupting
  • Big emotional reactions and trouble calming down
  • Losing things, forgetfulness and disorganization
  • Trouble falling asleep or restless sleep

ADHD often overlaps with anxiety, sensory processing challenges and sleep challenges. Our blog post, Is Your Child Stuck with Their Foot on the Gas Pedal?, explains the connection in more depth.

How does chiropractic support kids with ADHD?

Chiropractic doesn’t cure ADHD. What we do is look for tension in the spine and nervous system that may keep your child’s nervous system in “fight or flight,” and release it. When the nervous system is less stressed, many families notice their child is calmer, sleeps better and has an easier time focusing.

INSiGHT CLA scans, including heart rate variability (HRV), show how well your child’s body shifts between “go” and “rest.” Tracking those scans over time helps us see progress objectively, not just through a parent’s hopeful eyes.

We’re a complement to your child’s care team, not a replacement. Whether your family uses medication, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, nutrition changes or a combination, we’re glad to work alongside it.

Your first visit includes a detailed history, gentle exam and scans. We’re located at 360 Central Ave, Suite 1200 in downtown St. Petersburg.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can chiropractic help a child with ADHD?
Many St. Petersburg families bring their children to Blossom Family Chiropractic for support with focus and regulation. Chiropractic doesn’t treat ADHD itself; it gently calms nervous system stress so many kids experience better sleep, emotional regulation and focus. We track progress with objective scans.
Every child is different. Some families notice calmer evenings or better sleep within the first few weeks, while changes in focus often take longer. We re-scan regularly to measure progress.
Yes! Adjustments take just a few minutes, and we work with your child’s energy, not against it. Many kids get adjusted while chatting, playing or even standing.
