Round Ligament Pain & Chiropractic in St. Petersburg, FL

You stand up, sneeze or roll over, and suddenly there's a sharp, jabbing pain low in your belly or groin that takes your breath away. That's often your round ligaments protesting as your uterus grows. At Blossom Family Chiropractic in St. Pete, our Webster-certified team gently balances the pelvis and eases ligament tension so you can move through your day with more comfort.

What is round ligament pain?

Round ligament pain is a sharp, stabbing or pulling pain in the lower belly or groin during pregnancy. It comes from the round ligaments, two cord-like bands that run from the top of the uterus down to the groin, stretching and spasming as the uterus grows. It’s most common in the second trimester.

The round ligaments act like guy-wires, anchoring your uterus on each side. When your pelvis is balanced, they share the load evenly. When the pelvis is tilted or twisted, one ligament may be pulled tighter than the other, making it more likely to spasm with quick movements.

That uneven pull may also affect how much room your baby has to move, which is why the round ligaments are a key part of the Webster Technique.

What are the signs of round ligament pain?

  • A sudden, sharp jab in the lower belly or groin on one or both sides
  • Pain triggered by standing up quickly, rolling over, coughing, sneezing or laughing
  • A dull ache or pulling after a busy or active day
  • Pain that’s worse on one side (often the right)
  • Pain that eases within seconds or minutes with rest

Round ligament pain often shows up along with pelvic pain and sciatica.

How does chiropractic help round ligament pain?

We gently balance the sacrum and pelvis so the round ligaments aren’t pulled unevenly, and use a soft round ligament release, part of the Webster Technique, to ease tension directly. Many mamas feel their belly soften and relax during the visit.

We’ll share simple tips too: move slowly when changing positions, bend and flex your hips before a sneeze or cough, support your belly with a hand or a belly band, and try gentle stretches like cat-cow.

Your first visit includes a history, a gentle exam and INSiGHT CLA scans, all on supportive pregnancy pillows. We’re located at 360 Central Ave, Suite 1200 in downtown St. Petersburg.
