Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD) is pain and instability at the pubic symphysis, the joint at the front of the pelvis. It’s part of a broader group called pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PGP), which also includes pain at the sacroiliac (SI) joints in the back of the pelvis.
Pelvic pain often shows up alongside sciatica and round ligament pain.
We gently balance the sacrum, SI joints and pubic bone so the pelvis moves evenly again. The Webster Technique includes a specific pubic bone adjustment, along with releases for the muscles and ligaments that tug on the pelvis.
We’ll also give you everyday tips that make a real difference: rolling over with your knees together, sitting to put on pants, getting into the car bottom-first, taking smaller steps and using a pillow between your knees at night. We’ll refer you to a pelvic floor physical therapist or suggest a support belt when you need extra help.
Your first visit includes a history, a gentle exam and INSiGHT CLA scans. You’ll be supported on pregnancy pillows throughout. We’re at 360 Central Ave, Suite 1200 in downtown St. Petersburg.
